George Rapson was born in Plymouth, Devon, in 1871 and attested for the Coldstream Guards at Exeter on 27 December 1889. He transferred to the Royal Engineers on 16 April 1890, and served with them at home and in Malta. He was awarded his Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal per Army Order 280 in 1911, and was discharged at Devonport on 18 October 1911, after 21 years and 296 days’ service.

Sold with copied service papers which show that his only other medallic entitlement was a 1911 Coronation Medal.
