Thomas Anthony Hartgrove was born on 27 September 1879, at Aldershot, Hampshire, and served in France with the Clerks Section, Royal Garrison Artillery, from 9 August 1914. He was later a native of Leeds. He died on 27 February 1941, at Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
