Three: Private J. Riley, 10th Hussars

Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, El-Teb-Tamaai (1717 Pte. J. Riley. 10th Rl. Hussars) number partially officially corrected; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (1717. Pte. J. Riley. 10th Hussars); Khedive’s Star, 1884, unnamed as issued, mounted for display, light contact marks overall, generally nearly very fine or better (3) £280-£320

John Riley was born in County Cavan, Ireland, and attested for the 4th (Queen’s Own) Hussars at Carlisle in April 1867. He transferred to the 10th Hussars in November 1879, and served with the Regiment in the Soudan, 19 February - 21 April 1884 (Awarded L.S. & G.C. April 1885). Riley was discharged, 24 April 1888, having served 21 years and 3 days.
