W. Robinson, a native of Heaton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, served with the 447th (2nd Northumbrian) Field Company, Royal Engineers (Territorial Force) during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 April 1915, and was most likely awarded the Military Medal for 21 March 1918 attack along the Third and Fifth Armies fronts. According to his family, he was gassed five times during the Great War, and died of a consequent respiratory complaint in the 1920’s.
