William Stabler was born in Sunderland and attested there for the Durham Light Infantry. He served with the 1st/7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 19 April 1915, and died on 16 October 1918. He is buried in Glageon Communal Cemetery Extension, France.

Sold with Record Office enclosures for the medals, and two photographs of the recipient’s C.W.G.C. headstone.
