Charles Francis Sewell was appointed Lieutenant on 19 December 1883; Captain, 21 October 1891; retired with gratuity from K.R. Rifles; Hon. Major, 7 Battalion King’s Royal Rifles. Major Sewell served in the Soudan Expedition of 1884 with the 3rd Battalion King’s Royal Rifle Corps and was present in the engagement at Temai (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive’s Star).
