John Cleaver Bishop, a native of Kidderminster, Worcestershire, was born in Wolverhampton in 1886 and attested for the Worcestershire Regiment at Kidderminster on 8 March 1916. He served with the 1st/8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from June 1916, and was killed in action on 24 April 1917. He is buried in Villers-Faucon Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.
