Preston Volunteers Medal 1804, a circular engraved medal with floreate border, 51mm, silver (hallmarks for London 1804), the obverse featuring a Union Flag supported by a lion and a Volunteer, ‘Sub Hoc Signo Vinces’ on scroll above, ‘Preston Volunteers’ on scroll below, the reverse inscribed ‘Prize Medal given by Colnl. Grimshaw to be shot for at the Monthly Firings’, ‘Instituted September 1804’ on scroll below, with integral floreate loop suspension, good very fine £160-200
