Lieut. Col. William Hunter Watercolour and a Pastel Drawing of Surgeon Samuel Good Surgeon in Ordinary to His Highness Prince Albert, the first 17 x 13.4 cms of three quarter length shows the sitter in full dress scarlet coatee with bullion epaulettes, sky blue facings, sword and scarlet sash. Period handwritten details on the reverse state ‘Probably Great Uncle William Hunter Father’s Mother’s second eldest brother’ with further career details. Research has indicated that Hunter was born in 1800 and served in the Indian Army 1822-48 retiring in the rank of Hon. Lieut. Col. He served at the Siege and Capture of Bhurtpore and received the Army of India Medal. Now contained in a glazed wooden frame. The second 23 x 18.5 cms and has faded considerably but shows a half length portrayal of Samuel Good wearing a military braided frock coat. Career details appended to the reverse. Now contained in a glazed wooden frame. The first in good condition, the second as stated (2) £60-100

Note: The sky blue facings shown on the first would indicate the 97th Earl of Ulster’s Regiment of Foot.
