Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Delhi (Rifleman Kurbeer Tappa Sirmoor Rifle Battn.), naming impressed as to Indian Army, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise better than good fine and scarce £260-300
The Sirmoor Battalion was raised in 1815 and became a rifle regiment in 1858. At Delhi they were distinguished in the defence of Hindu Rao’s House, and for their part they were presented with the Queen’s Truncheon which is accorded the honours due to a Queen’s Colour. In 1861 the Sirmoor Rifles became the 2nd Gurkha Regiment.
