Walter Brown was born in Hinkley, Leicestershire, and attested there for the East Lancashire Regiment. He served during the Great War with the 2nd/4th Battalion, and died of wounds on the Western Front on 28 November 1917. He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery, France.
