Four: Trooper E. Wells, 5th Dragoon Guards, later 1st King’s Dragoon Guards

Edgar Thomas Wells was born in Salisbury, Wiltshire, in 1895, and attested for the 5th Dragoon Guards in 1912. He served during the Great War on the Western Front from 15 August 1914 to 31 December 1914 and again from 21 October 1915 to 7 January 1919. He was awarded the Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal when serving with the 1st King’s Dragoon Guards, and was finally discharged from 8th Hussars on 10 November 1933 at Canterbury. In civilian life he was employed as a G.P.O. Mail Porter, and died at Hounslow Hospital in 1958.
