Edward Tobin was born in and enlisted at Clonmel. Serving with the Royal Irish Regiment, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 2 February 1915. Serving with the 2nd Battalion he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 3 May 1915, aged 26 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
