William Harvey was born in Glamorganshire. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the A.I.F. on 30 September 1915, aged 23 years, 6 months. Posted to the 41st Battalion Australian Infantry, he embarked from Sydney on 18 May 1916, sailing for Plymouth on the Demosthenes. He entered France in November 1916 and was promoted to Corporal in April 1917. He was killed in action in Flanders on 23 June 1917. Corporal Harvey was buried in the Messines Ridge British Cemetery. With copied service papers and modern photographs of the cemetery, headstone and memorial.
