John Robertson, born on 4 July 1804. M.D. Edinburgh, 1825. Appointed Assistant Surgeon, 13th Foot, 13 March 1826 and Surgeon in December 1841. Served in the First Afghan War, 1839-42. Present at the storm and capture of Ghuznee; assault and capture of the town and forts of Tootumdurrah; storm of Jhoolghur; night attack at Baboo Koosh Ghur; destruction of Khardurrah; assault of Perwandurrah; the storming of the Khoord Cabool Pass; the affair at Tezeen; forcing the Jugdulluck Pass; reduction of the fort at Mamoo Khail; the defence of Jellalabad and sorties on 14 November and 1 December 1841 and 11 March, 24 March and 1 April 1842; the general action at Jellalabad; storming the heights of Jugdulluck; action at Tezeen; and recapture of Cabul. Placed on Half Pay in April 1851. Died at Denbigh on 15 May 1883. With copied research.
