Private Jack Bertram Walker, 13th Battalion Liverpool Regiment, entered France on 14 July 1916. Was commissioned in the Royal Lancaster Regiment on 29 August 1917. Serving with the 1/5th Battalion he died of wounds on 8 March 1918, aged 24 years. He was buried in the Lapugnoy Military Cemetery, near Bethune. 2nd Lieutenant Walker was the son of Sarah Eleanor Walker, of 44 Cocker Street, North Shore, Blackpool.

A copied newspaper clipping reporting his death reads, ‘Sec.-Lieut. Jack Bertram Walker of the King’s Own Lancaster Regiment has died from wounds received in action in France. He was admitted to a general hospital on the 7th of March, suffering from severe scalp wounds. Lieut. Walker is the only son of Mr and Mrs Edward Walker, of 44 Cocker-street, North Shore, Blackpool - the father is well known as a North Pier employé. The boy enlisted as a private about two years ago, and had been three times in France. Lieut. Walker was formerly engaged as a waiter at the Clifton and Metropole Hotel.’
