LIVERPOOL SHIPWRECK AND HUMANE SOCIETY, Marine Medal, silver (To F.H.S. Petherbridge, for gallant service, 2-4-24.) fitted with ribbon buckle in its case of issue (hinge damaged) extremely fine

The silver Marine Medal was awarded to F.H.S. Petherbridge, Apprentice, of S.S. 'Clan Maclver' for praiseworthy and humane service in rescue of 15 European passengers, 1221 pilgrims and 140 crew of the S.S. 'Frangestan', which caught fire and subsequently foundered in the RED SEA, on 2nd April, 1924. Eight silver medals were awarded to members of the crew of 'Clan Maclver' and the Master was awarded an Illuminated Certificate and Binoculars.
