Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 2 clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Orange Free State (952 Pte. S. Hunt, Glouc. Rgt.) minor edge bruising, good very fine £180-220

Stephen Hunt was born in Bristol. A Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Gloucestershire Regiment in Bristol on 31 December 1884, aged 19 years, 2 months. Served as a Drummer, June 1889-September 1890. Served in India, February 1886-November 1892. Transferred to the Army Reserve in November 1892 and re-engaged in December 1896. Recalled to the Colours, he served in South Africa with the 2nd Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, January-April 1900, being wounded at Klip Drift, 16 February 1900. Casualties to the regiment for this action were one died of wounds and ten wounded. Hunt was discharged medically unfit on 15 October 1900. With copied service papers and roll extracts.
