Lal Singh, from the village of Baibal in the district of Ferozepore, enrolled into the Indian Army on 18 July 1887. He was advanced to Naick in February 1896 and to Havildar in January 1899. As a Subadar-Major in the 14th Sikhs he was killed in action, 4 June 1915, during the Third Battle of Krithia, Gallipoli. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. With copied research including a fine copied portrait photograph.
