Warrant Officer Frederick Bell served with the 2nd Battalion in China from 23 September 1914, taking part in the siege of Tsingtao against the German forces stationed there. This successful operation resulted in the unique battle honour ‘China’ for 2/S. Wales Borderers. Bell served subsequently with the 2nd Battalion at Gallipoli, Egypt, France and Flanders, and in Germany. He is mentioned in the regimental history for an action near Gully Ravine, Gallipoli, on 6 July 1915. Sold with copied m.i.c. which also shows service as a W.O.2 with the Chinese Labour Corps.
