Sold with copied discharged papers which confirm medal but not his service with the Mounted Infantry. However, he transferred to the Dragoons of the Line in December 1902 so it seems likely that he did serve with the Mounted Infantry in South Africa. He later served with the 1st, 5th and 7th Dragoon Guards.
