Albert John Peirce was born on 5 April 1918. A Slaughterman’s Mate by occupation, he enlisted at Christchurch on 2 May 1939. Serving with the Hampshire Regiment, he was listed on 26 August 1943 as being held a prisoner-of-war of the Italians at Camp 59 P.M. 3300. He was later held by the Germans at Stalag 344 at Lamsdorf. Peirce was transferred to the Army Reserve on 12 April 1946.
