Bernard Woolcott Thompson was born on 20 July 1891. Educated at Marlborough College, 1905-08 and King’s College, Cambridge, 1911-14. He gained a B.A. and later became a M.R.C.S. and L.R.C.P. 1921. Appointed a Surgeon Probationer in the R.N.V.R., 3 July 1916; he served from 21 November 1916 on the sloop Campanula. During the Second World War he served as an officer in the R.A.M.C. - Lieutenant, November 1939; War Substantive Captain, November 1940; Temporary Major, June 1943. In civilian life he was Resident Anaesthetist, St. Bartholemew’s Hospital and House Physician, Metropolitan Hospital. He later lived at The Grange, Desford, Leicestershire.
