Despite the mint signature, which could be read as lin, lvi or liii, Eadwine is not a known moneyer for Lincoln and the style of the present specimen bears little resemblance to the clumsy appearance of many of the Lincoln coins of the type. Alternatively, Eadwine is a known London moneyer for every class of William I and the first three classes of William II. The truncated reading ‘lvi’ is probably the likeliest interpretation of the mint name
