An 1822 Pattern Infantry Officer’s Sword. The 82 cm blade with single fuller by Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London (17541) etched with the crown over VR scrolling foliage and the owner’s initials ‘R.P.M.’ regulation gilt gothic hilt incorporating the crowned VR cypher and Union spray retaining inner black leather lining wirebound fishskin grip and gold bullion sword knot, in its brass scabbard (dented), the blade stained but good gilt remains on the hilt and backstrap; together with an other ranks sealskin busby of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps complete with corded black over red horsehair plume, sewn in cap lines, leather chinstrap and leather sweatband (distressed), good overall condition (2)
