Conrad Frederick Potgieter served in the Kaffir Wars of 1835, 1846, and 1851-53 (medal), also with the force that proceeded to the Ungozie and which ultimately took possession of Port Natal; and also with the force against the insurgent Boers beyond the N.E. boundary of the Cape Colony in 1848, and present at the action at Boem Plaats. Served in Turkey in 1854-56 in charge of Depots of Stores established on the Bosphorous for the Army in the Crimea.
