Jack Dix, who first entered the French theatre of war in mid-August 1914 with 3rd D.A.C., most probably won his M.M. in respect of 123rd Brigade’s attack against Flers on the Somme on 15 September 1916, when our infantry and tanks were supported by a creeping artillery barrage. According to his MIC entry, he transferred to the Royal Engineers in August 1917.
