C/KX.120654 Leading Stoker Cyril Frank Courtnall, was killed on 23 March, 1943, aged 22, when H.M. Submarine Turbulent was sunk with the loss of all officers and men, including its commander, Commander J. W. Linton, V.C., D.S.O., D.S.C., one of the most decorated officers in the Senior Service. Leading stoker Courtnall is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial, Kent. The lot includes a list of awards to the crew of the Turbulent and the Roll of Honour.
