M.S.M. London Gazette 7 February 1919. ‘... in recognition of valuable services rendered in connection with military operations with the Forces in East Africa’.
Private James Kockhead, East Africa Regiment, entered the East Africa theatre of war on 13 August 1914. His m.i.c. shows service with the Nairobi Defence Force. East Africa Unattached List and East African Pioneer Corps. Lockhead’s M.S.M. is one of 48 awards given to East African forces for service in the East African campaign.
