Pair: Captain Hugh Augustus Bagot-Chester, Staffordshire Yeomanry and Royal Artillery

Hugh Augustus Bagot-Chester was born on 21 April 1871, the second son of Heneage Charles Bagot-Chester (1836-1912) who was the first Honorary Colonel of the Lambeth & Southwark Volunteers (1868-76). Hugh Augustus Bagot-Chester was commissioned a Captain in the Staffordshire Yeomanry on 1 June 1916, was employed with the Royal Artillery and first entered the France/Flanders theatre of war in 1917. He died on 6 January 1938.

The medals, part of the J. M. A. Tamplin Collection, are recorded as having been purchased in October 1955 and, because of the above connection, were latterly on loan to the Lambeth & Southwark Volunteers Museum (ref.
