WATERLOO 1815 (Joseph Cheadle, 2nd Batt. 73rd Reg. Foot) fitted with steel clip and ring, file mark on edge over '2nd', contact marks, nearly very fine

Joseph Cheadle was born at St. Mary's, Nottingham and enlisted on 9th December, 1813, a cutler by trade. He served in No. 2 Company at Waterloo and transferred to the 36th Foot in 1817. He was discharged aged thirty one, 18th April 1826, in consequence of health impaired by remittent fever, leaving an ulcer of the hip contracted in the Ionian Islands in 1821 and 1823. His conduct as a soldier was good (Ref. 'The 2/73rd at Waterloo' by Alan Lagden and John Sly).
