A North West Frontier B.E.M. awarded to Sergeant, later Squadron Leader, Bertie Lock, Royal Air Force
British Empire Medal (Military), G.V1.R. (363161 Sergt. Bertie Lock, R.A.F.) in its Royal Mint case of issue, extremely fine and scarce

B.E.M. London Gazette 25 October, 1940, “in recognition of gallant and distinguished service with the Royal Air Force during the operations in Waziristan for the period 1st January, 1939, to 31st December, 1939.”
Lock served in India with 28 Squadron and the lot is sold with copies from his log book for that period, together with a quantity of research taken from official records. He was commissioned in 1943, retiring as Wing Commander in 1957 and, in addition to medals for W.W.2, is entitled to those for the North West Frontier 1937-39, Malaya, Long Service and for the Coronation 1953.
