Killed in action 17.9.1916. Age 27. Commemorated on the Vimy Memorial. Sold with extract from the War Diary, “Barrage fire very heavy. The Battalion had a working party of 400 digging a jumping off trench between Fabeck & Zollern Graben. Everyone fairly cheerful. Casualties - Lieut. Hearst H.V., Harris R.I., and Majors Anderson G.W. and Forster H.G. wounded. 13 O.R. killed, 59 O.R. wounded, 3 O.R. wounded (shell shock), 3 O.R. missing, 1 O.R. wounded (remained at duty).”
