Extracts for the Society’s records:
‘A Silver Medal and Vote of Thanks to William Driscoll, for jumping into the River Mersey at George’s Landing Stage, Liverpool, on the 7th November 1897, and rescuing a man who had fallen into the water’.
‘£1 and Silver Clasp to William Driscoll, of the ferry boat Sunflower, for jumping into the River Mersey and rescuing a man who had fallen into the water whilst going on board the boat, on July 18th 1898. (This is the fourth occasion Driscoll has been rewarded by the Society)’.
‘Silver Clasp, Certificate of Thanks, and £5 to William Driscoll, aged 57, for rescuing a woman aged 23 attempting suicide in the River Mersey at Egremont, on the 6th April 1931’.
