Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders (Princess Louise’s), a fine and very rare officer’s Foreign Service helmet plate c1881-1900, a crowned Thistle star, this overlayed with large thistle sprays, in the centre a circle ‘Argyll And Sutherland’, mounted at the top of the circle Princess Louise’s coronet depends onto her reversed ‘L’ cypher with the boar’s head and cat to the left and right, this section on a ground of black velvet (worn)(see Bloomer Bk 2 p109/110), the finial ball section of the bottom ray on the back plate missing the loop fasteners and original mount pins replaced with solder deposits the gilt excellent £500-700
