Crimea 1854-56, 2 clasps, Azoff, Sebastopol (W. H. Cameron, Surgeon, H.M.S. Beagle) contemporary engraved naming, very fine £200-250

William Hector Cameron was appointed Surgeon in the Royal Navy on 3 July 1845, becoming Staff Surgeon in January 1856, and retired in April 1879. He served in Agincourt in the expedition to Brunei Borneo in 1846, and in Bulldog during the Sicilian insurrection in 1849. In the Beagle he served in the Black Sea during the Crimean war and was present at the capture of Kertch, Yenikalé and Kinburn, and all operations in the Sea of Azoff, and was present at the battle of Balaklava (Crimean and Turkish medals, Sebastopol, Balaklava, and Azoff clasps). These services are as recorded in Lean’s Navy List for 1879 but the Balaklava clasp does not confirm.
