George Barber Jeffreys served as Mate of Pylades, and commanded one of her boats at the capture of one out of three Chinese piratical junks. He was present at the attacks on Canton, and was Lieutenant of Blonde at the taking of Amoy, Chusan, and Chinghae, in 1841. He was promoted to Commander on 28 June 1852.
