Royal Cornwall and Devon Miners Militia Artillery, the excessively rare officer’s helmet plate 1854-c56, as worn on the leather helmet, a plated crowned rococo shield bearing a central mount of a gilt fused grenade with applied silver ‘VR’ cypher, large gilt crossed cannon barrels applied below broad laurel sprays in three-quarter surround with a heavily plated large scroll at the base ‘Royal Cornwall and Devon Miners’, two out of three screw post fasteners (p61 Artillery Militia for similar), the upper section of the right hand laurel sprays missing, two other very minor fractures at the fastening points, otherwise very fine condition for the age £700-900
