John Beardwell was born in Liverpool on 12 March 1854, and enlisted there for the Royal Marines on 12 June 1872. He was allocated to the Plymouth Division and served in Egypt and the Sudan with the R.M. Battalion and Camel Corps from September 1884 until July 1885. He was discharged from the Royal Marines on 26 July 1887. Sold with copy service record which confirms medal and clasps.
