A rare North West Frontier group of five to Warrant Officer E.E.K. Williams, Royal Air Force

INDIA GENERAL SERVICE 1908-35, 3 clasps, North West Frontier 1930-31, Mohmand 1933, North West Frontier 1935 (82908 Sgt., R.A.F.); INDIA GENERAL SERVICE 1936- 39, 2 clasps, North West Frontier 1936-37, North West Frontier 1937-39 (F/Sgt., R.A.F.); WAR MEDAL; CORONATION 1937; ROYAL AIR FORCE L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (F/ Sgt., R.A.F.) good very fine (5)

Warrant Officer Williams is thought to have had more continuous unbroken service on the North West Frontier than any other Warrant Officer in the Royal Air Force. His units for that period are thought to have been: 1930-31 60 Bomber Squadron with Wapiti aircraft at Kohat; 1933-20 (Army Co-op) Peshawar with Wapiti aircraft; 1935 20 (Army Co-op) Peshawar with Audax Aircraft; 1936-37 5 (Army Co-op) Mirashah with Audax Aircraft;1937-39 1 (Army Co-op) Indian Air Force, Mirashah. Promoted Warrant Officer 1 January 1939. The unofficial medal roll for I.G.S. 1908 to the R.A.F. lists just 15 recipients for these three clasps. Of these Flight Sergeant Williams is the only recipient noted to be entitled to the I.G.S. 1936-39 with two clasps and his combination is therefore thought to be unique.
