Royal Horse Artillery, the important Field Service Cap of the late Major John Wainwright Hopkins, the cap in navy blue and scarlet cloth the curtain and crown embellished with gold cord two small KC gilt buttons to the front, the large cap badge of padded format in gold thread crimson velvet blue silk and red cloth shows the KC over the Garter Motto enclosing GVIR below a scroll ‘Royal Horse Artillery’, original internal trade label for ‘Hawkes Co. Ltd., 1 Savile Row London W1’ and named ‘Capt JW Hopkins’, externally of excellent appearance some service wear internally £200-250

John Wainwright Hopkins a cadet under-officer at Harrow School 1938, commissioned into the H.A.C., 10 June1939 (later 11th R.H.A.) Lieutenant, 1 January 1941 (A/Capt. July 1940). He won the Military Cross (Libya) 29 November 1940. As Acting Major he was killed in action at Acroma, Libya, June 1942.
