Arthur Stanley Meek was educated at Bedford School and Sandhurst. He entered the Bombay Political Department from the Indian Army in 1907. He was on special duty under the orders of the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, from December 1914 to May 1919; Military Governor, Basrah, 1917-1919 (despatches); Special Mission Tehama, Arabia (C.M.G. December 1919); Resident and Agent Governor General, Eastern States, 1934-37. Lt.Colonel Meek retired in 1938, and died on 14 August 1955.
