1st West Yorkshire Yeomanry Cavalry, a superb officer’s silver plated full dress helmet c1876-1897, the skull (basically 1871 pattern) bears the distinctive bottom band of pear tree leaves, the ornate plated QVC over broad pear tree leaf sprays bears a multi-rayed facetted star, upon this a central silver rose with gilt surround being a gilt strap ‘1st West Yorkshire’ and secondary scrolls ‘Yeomanry Cavalry’; the 1847 pattern acanthus plume holder supports a white horse hair plume and lower ‘shaving brush’ silver rose top finial, large silver rose side ornaments and a velvet lined silver chin chain, internally the peaks are lined with brown skiver, the lining of brown velvet overlaid with quilted silk, minor stitching fault to the chin chain liner otherwise in excellent condition £1000-1400

Note. The plate was replaced c1897 with a similar one but bearing the title ‘Yorkshire Dragoons’, the acanthus plume holder was also replaced with the conventional 1871 pattern.
