D.C.M., London Gazette, 3 September, 1918. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during an enemy attack, when the company on his left gave way. He kept his men going and at one time mounted the parapet to encourage and keep them at their posts, maintaining a steady fire on the enemy.'

Sergeant Ramsden was a native of Bradford.
