D.C.M., London Gazette, 10 January, 1920. 31109 Sergeant W.J. Brown, C/110th Brigade, R.F.A. 'On 18 September 1918 near Ronssoy, he was in charge of a gun with a forward section of a brigade, in close support of the attacking infantry. He displayed great coolness and resource in bringing his gun into action depite heavy enemy artillery and machine-gun fire. He brought rapid fire to bear on enemy machine guns which were holding up the infantry advance.
