The group is sold with various original documents including Temporary Commission as 2nd Lieutenant, R.H. & R.F.A., 17 August 1915; London Gazettes announcing M.C. and bar; large 'Invalided from the Service' certificate; Mobilization letter; Daily Mail Terrirorials, Sandow Prize 1909, leather purse originally containing 5 gold sovereigns, and other items.

M.C., London Gazette, 26 March, 1917. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He organised a party, and at great personal risk succeeded in extinguishing a fire which had broken out in an ammunition dump.

Bar to M.C. London Gazette, 25 August, 1917. 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in extinguishing a fire in his battery position during a heavy barrage which had ignited an ammunition dump. He was aided by another officer, and their joint efforts undoubtedly averted a serious explosion. He was severely wounded in the operation.'
