The Hadley High Stone memorial commemorates the Battle of Barnet, fought on 14 April 1471 between troops loyal to the cause of the restored monarch Henry VI and those of the deposed King Edward IV. After an engagement lasting between three and four hours, Edward’s forces prevailed. Illustration reduced
