Thomas Carson was born in Dumfries, and attested for the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders at Stirling. He served with the 7th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 15 December 1914, and suffered a gun shot wound to the right thigh on 25 April 1915. Invalided home, he returned to the Front on 29 August 1915, and was killed in action on 15 November 1916. He is buried in Frankfurt Trench British Cemetery, Beaumont Hamel, France.
