M.M. London Gazette 23 July 1919

George Marchant disembarked in France on 10 September 1915 with the 8th (Service) Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. He later transferred to the 1st Battalion and finally the 6th (Service) Battalion with which he was serving when he was awarded the M.M. The London Gazette which carried his M.M. announcement contains awards for acts of gallantry in France and Flanders in October and November 1918, a time when the 6th Battalion were engaged in the Pursuit to the Selle and the Battle of the Sambre.
