Kenneth Roy Bryant served during the Second World War as an Observer with 18 Squadron, and was killed in action on what is believed to be his first operational sortie, when Blenheim L9422, piloted by Sergeant J. H. Davies, was shot down by Me.109s whilst on bombing operations on aerodromes in Belgium and Holland, on 2 August 1940. This attack was a concerted effort of 36 Blenheims tasked to bomb Airfields in Occupied Countries, and Bryant’s aircraft was caught over Haamstede Airfield.

Haamstede was briefly used by the Luftwaffe in August 1940 in order to give air cover to their Battleships Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, who were expected to move up the Channel to the North Sea. In the event the airfield was quickly abandoned when it became apparent that the airfield was vulnerable to attack from the sea.

Bryant is buried in Bergen-op-Zoom War Cemetery, Holland. His medals were sent to his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Martha Bryant.
